Master of Counselling Student, Monash University
Ashley is a counsellor-in-training who knows what it means to build a life far from home – and to keep rebuilding it.
Born and raised in Canada, she has lived and worked across Asia since 2019. That experience of repeated reinvention – new cities, new identities, the particular loneliness and aliveness of expat life isn’t just personal history. It’s the foundation of how she shows up in the counselling room.
Before training as a counsellor, Ashley spent over a decade in corporate and operational roles across North America and Asia, including five years as a disability case manager where she supported individuals navigating serious illness and mental health challenges, and the complex emotional weight of returning to work during recovery. That work taught her something she carries into every session: people are rarely struggling with just one thing. And what they most need, before anything else, is to feel genuinely understood.
Ashley currently volunteers as a Crisis Responder with Kids Help Phone, providing real-time support to people in acute distress including those experiencing suicidal ideation, self-harm, anxiety, and relationship crisis. This work has deepened her commitment to being a calm, steady, non-judgmental presence, especially in moments that feel overwhelming.
Her approach is warm, collaborative, and person-centred. She believes in slowing down, getting curious, and working alongside clients to make sense of what’s happening – and what they actually want.
Ashley is particularly drawn to working with people navigating life transitions, identity shifts, anxiety, self-worth, relationships, and the specific challenges that come with living abroad, cross-cultural belonging, and building a life that feels like yours.
If any of that resonates – you’re in the right place.
