Master of Counselling Student, Monash University, HK.

Fee: HK$350 per 50mins.

Languages: English.

As a counsellor, I am committed to helping people make positive changes in their lives. I understand that day to day challenges can be overwhelming. I also understand that stressful events can impact our lives in a significant way. My role is to help with processing and responding to these situations.

I am looking to work with clients who are suffering from anxiety, stress and depression in a variety of settings. I also have experience in grief and bereavement and this is a particular space I am passionate about. As a mother of two young children, I have a good understanding of the challenges parents and couples face and I can help navigate individuals or couples through these difficulties.

I am an advocate of person-centred therapy and building an open and safe relationship with my client. I believe in traditional methods such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Narrative Therapy, combined with more current approaches such as Mindfulness. I believe in building resilience and working with clients to create their own tools that they can utilise throughout their lifetime.

Mental health and wellbeing are important areas of our lives that need to be addressed on a daily basis. I look forward to working with individuals to make their mental health a priority and understand that it doesn’t always have to be so hard.

Jared Dubbs

Jared Dubbs

Master of Counselling Student, Monash University, HK.

Fee: HK$350 per 50mins.

Languages: English.

Hi, my name is Jared and I’m here to help.  This is about you and I’m here to facilitate your journey in counselling and help you make the changes you want in your life.  I can provide a safe space to help guide you to identify and work on whatever issues you may be facing.  I believe that we all have the capacity for change, even though it can feel overwhelming at times.  I hope to be a source of comfort and safety as we navigate the changes you want to make in your life.  I feel that authenticity and compassion are the most important traits that a counsellor can have and it’s what I try to bring to each of my sessions.

Couples:  Managing a relationship is difficult and it takes a lot of work.  It’s easy to get entrenched in your opinions and ideas; sometimes you need an outside perspective.  If you’re coming to see me for couples counselling, I want to work with you both to help strengthen or re-establish communication.  I’m here to listen, help and support couples to work together to find a solution that works best for your relationship.

Clients:  I look forward to working with adults, teens, and children on a variety of matters including (but certainly not limited to) behavioural changes, ADHD, LGBTQ+ issues, self-esteem, relationships, men’s issues, anxiety and couples issues.

Experience:   I have over 15 years of experience in education as a teacher, director, marketer, and problem solver across Hong Kong, Malaysia, South Korea, and the USA.  I have built and run schools in Hong Kong and Malaysia.  I feel these experiences have made me open to different people and experiences which I bring to my counselling.

Training:  I am currently studying for my Masters in Counselling (MoC) at Monash University in Australia.  I have completed training courses in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and am interesting in all forms of therapy.  And I prefer to use a dialectical approach to counselling where we find a goal you want to achieve and work together to get you there.

I also hold a teaching qualification in the USA and a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Austin College, Texas, USA which I find helps me to see problems from a logical and different angle.

I look forward to working with you.  I am available in person or on zoom.

Laurence Munoz

Master of Counselling Student, Monash University HK.

Fee: HK$350 per 50mins.

I am very fortunate to have lived in many beautiful parts of the world – France, Australia, 18 happy years in Hong Kong, and currently the UK.   I can understand the challenges of integration and the joys of making new friends.

I initially trained and worked as a lawyer before moving into legal search, working primarily within financial services in identifying legal talent for over 20 years.   The things I enjoyed most about my career included helping people build and shape their careers, problem solve and above all, fostering human relationships.  Keen to continue working with individuals in a more holistic way, I have undertaken the Master of Counselling Course with Monash University.   I look forward to establishing therapeutic relationships based on trust and empathy and helping clients realise their full potential.

Passionate about mental health, I am particularly interested in helping people navigate significant life changes – often, we are simply not ready to tackle the obstacles and challenges we face in everyday life.    Life stages (the menopause, parenthood, ageing) and events (grief, redundancy, divorce) can cause instability and counselling can help to find understanding, balance and peace in our lives.   I believe in remaining open and flexible and will tailor sessions around the needs of the client.   While I am continuing to learn about different modalities, I have exposure to person-centric therapy, CBT and have a strong interest in mindfulness.

My family and I currently live in the UK where I am coming to terms with living with two thirteen-year-olds who are now taller than me.  I am often found wrapped against the wind hiking the coastal paths of Devon chasing our energetic cocker spaniel, Coco.

Laurence is available for Low-Cost Counselling (LCC) sessions in English.
