Liz McCaughey is the Co-Founder of AMindset, her HK-based company, and Kumara which is based in Australia. She has over 15 years of clinical experience in the treatment of general psychological disorders. She specialises in depression, anxiety, work or study stress & relational conflicts.  Liz is also a presenter of multiple workshops relating to psychological and spiritual subjects.

She is renowned for bridging the gaps between psychology, spirituality, and human potential. Using her psychology training, life experience, and spiritual knowledge she weaves modern science with ancient spiritual text and brings about real solutions at an individual and group level.

Liz has supported and facilitated group therapy sessions and presented workshops for large corporations, as well as at universities and military locations. In her workshops, Liz’s teaching is filled with wisdom – but also laughter. Liz teaches from a perspective of personal experience by drawing on her rich and varied life. With a career structure that includes being an air traffic controller, corporate businesswoman, psychotherapist, mentor, mother, and spiritual entrepreneur, Liz has a depth of awareness and expertise to benefit all people – young to old.

Liz’s therapy provides a supportive and safe environment that enables clients to explore their present difficulties and find ways of resolving them. Liz assists people to empower themselves through, knowledge, psychological awareness, and stress-relief techniques of mindfulness and meditation.

Born in Scotland, Liz did not wait long to start travelling and enjoying the rich experiences that places like India, the USA, Germany, Hong Kong, Australia, Africa, China, New Zealand, South America, Poland, Central America, Scandinavia, and Russia have to offer. She has lived and worked in the UK, Germany, Australia, and Hong Kong.

Through her Daily Mind Matters Page Liz offers free audio meditations and practical techniques to cope with the various problems that present in life.

Liz lives in Hong Kong with her husband, Roger. When Rog and Liz are not working they spend their time travelling the world and also visiting their 3 sons in the various locations of the UK and Australia.

Cecilia Yu is originally from Taiwan and moved to Hong Kong in 2003. She has worked in multinational corporations, tech start-ups, and educational institutions throughout her career. Familiar with the challenges of working in demanding work environments, and managing complex teams, Cecilia also has expertise in positive parenting and helping families with special needs children.

Cecilia is passionate about providing psychological support for diverse individuals and groups to rebalance their lives towards healthy changes. She has trained to help clients with diverse needs and especially those with traumatic experiences to learn to process their overwhelming emotions. Cecilia offers a safe and confidential space to understand the client’s struggles and together they will explore thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, as well as learn how to handle hardships while moving towards a richer and more meaningful life.

Each session provides emotional support but also has a mission to set treatment plans collaboratively as a team. Cecilia provides counselling therapy methods best suited to the client’s needs. These methods include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT),  Emotional Focus Therapy (EFT), Internal Family System Therapy (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), and the Gottman Method for Couple’s Therapy.

Melissa Chim

Melissa is a Hong Kong and England and Wales qualified lawyer. She is also a mediator and has worked in the financial services industry before she joined a statutory body. Her time in the legal and finance sectors gives her insight into work-related issues, such as stress, anxiety, sleep disorders, burnout and depression. Melissa enjoys working with adults on professional development and, in particular, helping working women develop a healthy and balanced approach to career progression. Melissa believes in a person-centred approach to therapy, tailoring each session to the needs of each client. The aim is to work with clients to untangle issues that may be holding them back and to formulate a clear path towards achieving their goals.

Melissa has spent most of her life in Hong Kong and considers this home. She studied in Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore and, having travelled extensively for work, Melissa is also familiar with issues that both children and adults face as a result of relocation. She is passionate about helping clients harness their own strengths to navigate major transitions.

Melissa is also an advocate for LGBTQ rights in Hong Kong and would love to offer a safe and confidential space to discuss any issues you may have.

Dr. Nicolson Siu Yat Fan

Dr. Nicolson Siu Yat Fan

PhD in Neuropsychology, CUHK

Nicolson Siu is a neuropsychologist and lecturer at The Division of Social Science of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He has been working with children with special education needs for more than ten years.

Nicolson obtained his PhD. Degree in Neuropsychology at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is committed to exploring the relationship between the brain and behaviour with neurophysiological methods like electroencephalography (EEG) and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). He conducted intervention studies to support children with special educational needs (SEN). His dissertation focused on training the executive functions of children with an autism spectrum disorder. He received government funding to develop an empathy and compassion parenting curriculum in 2019. He also has consultancy experience for local NGOs on projects related to neurophysiological assessment and training for children with SEN.

Nicolson is also a Registered Horticultural Therapist (RHT). He gained good practical experience through engaging in different horticultural therapy programs. The role of RHT exposed Nicolson to different types of clients, from children, adolescents, parents, working adults, and to elderly.

Being a Master of Counselling student at Monash University, where Nicolson learns professional clinical techniques, he has gradually established himself as an empathetic and non-judgemental counsellor. Combining the knowledge, practical experience, and clinical techniques, Nicolson should be able to deliver a safe, respectful, and supportive environment to clients, explore their issues together and address them appropriately.

Karuna is from India and has been residing in Hong Kong for almost 25 years which she now considers her home. Although she has worked in multiple industries in the corporate sector, her attentiveness to mental wellness has been her focus from the time she studied Psychology at an undergraduate level.

Karuna has a natural interest in supporting people and believes there is always both help and hope for any person experiencing distress in all spheres and stages in life. Karuna is patient and focuses on giving her ears to her clients within a non-judgmental and confidential space. As a counsellor, Nimishaa wants to empower her clients with a greater understanding of themselves as well as tools they may need to enhance their own well-being.

Nimishaa believes counselling sessions are a collaborative and safe space for clients to explore their challenges as well as to learn strategies to enhance their experience of life. She uses an integrative approach that includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness techniques.

Nimishaa has been working in the area of mental health and well-being for several years. She began her career in Industrial-Organizational psychology and specializes in leadership training and resilience coaching. Early on in her career, she realized that she had a passion for supporting people’s self-growth and wanted to further develop as a counsellor. This led Nimishaa to acquire a Masters in Counselling at Monash University.
