Deborah is dedicated to making a difference in people’s lives. She understands the complex factors relating to a person’s  health, physical, emotional, psychological and social needs.

Originally from the United Kingdom, Deborah has lived in Hong Kong since 2007. As a pastoral leader in international education, and a physical and health educator, she has worked successfully with young families from a wide range of cultural backgrounds.  She is looking to work with individuals who have specific needs relating to their family relationships, friendships, education, work and health. She is committed to helping individuals manage their day-to-today challenges and find realistic and achievable goals through a person-centred approach.

Deborah is dedicated to enhancing her professional abilities throughout her career. She is currently practicing traditional counselling methods such as cognitive behavioural therapy and positive psychology, and is broadening her skills to take into account an individuals’ overall well-being to incorporate a more holistic approach.

Melissa is a Hong Kong and England and Wales qualified lawyer. She is also a mediator and has worked in the financial services industry before she joined a statutory body. Her time in the legal and finance sectors gives her insight into work-related issues, such as stress, anxiety, sleep disorders, burnout and depression. Melissa enjoys working with adults on professional development and, in particular, helping working women develop a healthy and balanced approach to career progression. Melissa believes in a person-centred approach to therapy, tailoring each session to the needs of each client. The aim is to work with clients to untangle issues that may be holding them back and to formulate a clear path towards achieving their goals.

Melissa has spent most of her life in Hong Kong and considers this home. She studied in Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore and, having travelled extensively for work, Melissa is also familiar with issues that both children and adults face as a result of relocation. She is passionate about helping clients harness their own strengths to navigate major transitions.

Melissa is also an advocate for LGBTQ rights in Hong Kong and would love to offer a safe and confidential space to discuss any issues you may have.

Janette has worked in various roles in the higher education industry for over 8 years. She has extensive experience working with teenagers, parents and adults from different countries within APAC and is familiar with the common challenges and struggles teenagers and their families have. She also has an in-depth understanding of Asian and Western cultures and values. She is now pursuing her passion and is studying for a Master of Counselling at Monash University.

Janette is patient, empathetic and open. She has a special interest in helping children, adolescents and families. She aims at providing a safe, non-judgmental and private space for her clients and building a strong therapeutic relationship with them. Karuna is from India and has been residing in Hong Kong for almost 25 years which she now considers her home. Although she has worked in multiple industries in the corporate sector, her attentiveness to mental wellness has been her focus from the time she studied Psychology at an undergraduate level.

Karuna has a natural interest in supporting people and believes there is always both help and hope for any person experiencing distress in all spheres and stages in life. Karuna is patient and focuses on giving her ears to her clients within a non-judgmental and confidential space. She is of acceptance that most people often just need someone non-biased to speak with to feel better. Her aim is to work collaboratively with her clients, so they feel empowered to make their own choices to optimise a balanced life.

Shane Tang

Shane Tang

Shane grew up in Canada and Hong Kong. Her experience as a TEFL teacher and as an internal consultant in the commercial sector has enabled her to work with people from diverse backgrounds. She has also been coaching and mentoring children, youths and parents for the past 11 years. Approachability, empathy, and a clear mind are her assets when working with clients with different needs and developments.  Most clients quickly build rapport with her. Shane enjoys her work as a counsellor because it allows her to walk with people in all seasons of their lives. She is committed to support her clients’ journey of self-discovery non-judgementally through person-centred approach.
 
She has worked with clients with depression, anxiety, bereavements, marital issues, work/school stresses, parenting/family matters and personal developmental needs. Shane has been exposed to various therapies including Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Behavioural Cognitive Therapy (CBT), which she finds to be effective with her clients. Samantha Chu

Samantha Chu

Languages: English. Samantha was born in Hong Kong and grew up in Vancouver, Canada.  Upon her return to Hong Kong in 2010, she worked in the legal industry and for the majority of her legal career, worked with divorcing clients in their separation and the children and financial issues they faced as a result of the divorce.  Samantha is a trained mediator and through her experience in mediation, she believes that conflicts are often resolved when parties are given an opportunity to speak, to be heard and to compromise with some assistance of a professional third party.

Samantha has always been inclined towards helping others.  She has enjoyed working with organizations that assist individuals in new communities to explore new resources, overcome challenges/struggles and create a new sense of belonging. Some examples are cultural centres that help new immigrants or university programs that help new international students on campus.  Samantha believes that coping strategies and mental health are extremely important as people go through different experiences in life.  Therefore, in her counselling, Samantha strives to understand and work with each client to find strategies and solutions that also work and integrate well into the other aspects of their lives including the client’s family, work environment, social network, cultural or religious beliefs.  Samantha is pursuing her passion to help others and to learn more about mental health issues by studying a Master of Counselling at Monash University.

Samantha is approachable, patient and empathetic.  She provides a comfortable, safe and non-judgmental environment for her clients to explore their thoughts, needs or the next course of action.  Because of her upbringing and work experience in Hong Kong as well as in Canada, she has a good understanding of Asian and Western cultures and values which help Samantha to communicate effectively with clients from different backgrounds.  Her goal in counselling is to build a strong therapeutic relationship with each of her clients, to help strengthen their mental health and to empower each of them to build a “tool-box” they can use when making their own decisions to achieve a well-balanced life with the help of counselling.
