Heather Kim was born and raised in Korea and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Counseling at Monash University while teaching Middle School English as an Additional Language (EAL) at the Canadian International School in Singapore. Before her role as a secondary EAL teacher, she spent 11 years teaching early years at international schools in Korea, China, and Singapore. Heather’s sessions will be online only.

Heather holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education, as well as a Master’s degree in Bilingual/Bicultural Education. With 13 years of experience in international schools, she has gained an in-depth understanding of the diverse needs of individuals and the significance of culturally sensitive approaches.

Having been an international student studying abroad for 10 years and an expatriate for 7 years, Heather has developed empathy for students and families facing social, emotional, and mental challenges shaped by their unique identities and perspectives.

In her new role as a student counsellor with Monash University, Heather aims to utilize her skills and life experience to empower clients to better understand themselves by unfolding their stories and building resilience in difficult situations. In her free time, Heather enjoys yoga, dancing and travelling.
