A 20-year resident of Hong Kong, Heda understands the daily stresses and struggles of working and living in this city, and how difficult it can be to go through these difficulties alone.
While the first step of seeking help may be a hard decision to make, the next steps don’t have to be. As your counsellor, Heda views her role akin to a midwife. She’s there to help bring about clarity to whatever situation you’re facing – working alongside you to untangle convoluted thoughts and overwhelming emotions, and find forward-looking solutions towards a more fulfilling life. Heda views problems as natural reactions to the vagaries of life and, thus, are not something to be ashamed of.
Heda has worn different hats – as a mom, mentor, entrepreneur, author, award-winning journalist, and communication specialist. With this diverse background, she brings an open-minded, nonjudgmental, and collaborative approach to counselling. She’s keen to help you break through life dilemmas, cope with major life changes or transitions, stresses (whether pandemic, career, school, health-related, or others), grief and loss, anxiety, and other issues.
An avid reader and writer, Heda’s interest in counselling stems from a curiosity about people’s narratives – the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves and others. She believes our internal narratives influence our external behaviour and emotional responses to situations. As such, they are also the innate superpowers that we can harness to help us change our life’s course.
Heda has had a long career in communications in Asia, having worked for multinational news organisations and global financial firms. She actively volunteers for a local charity focused on the foreign domestic helper community and is the co-author of “Diaspora Journey: Stories of Philippine Migration to Hong Kong.”
Heda is available for Low-Cost Counselling (LCC) sessions in English. Find out more here.
