Iola holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of British Columbia, and is currently pursuing a Master of Counselling at Monash University. She has always been passionate about supporting people’s mental health journeys. Iola has 8 years of experience working with children and young people, including children with special educational needs. She is familiar with the stresses and anxieties that can arise from peer and familial dynamics, and how that can affect one’s self-esteem and wellbeing. Iola offers an open and empathic space for individuals to express and process their thoughts and emotions.
Following a person-centred approach, Iola works to empower individuals in making choices that serve their best interest. She respects and appreciates that everyone has their own culture and values, and she aims to personalize evidence-based practices with each of her clients.
Iola works with adolescents and adults on issues such as self-esteem, anxiety, depression, stress, and grief. She draws from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and positive psychology in her therapeutic approach.
Iola is available for Low-Cost Counselling (LCC) sessions in English, Cantonese or Mandarin.
