Monica is a wife and mother who has lived and worked in HK for almost 13 years. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management from Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines. She is currently undertaking the Master of Counselling program at Monash University. Monica’s approach to counselling is that each client is an expert in their own life. That even when people can sometimes feel “stuck,” every individual is doing their best with what resources they have. In counseling, Monica assists clients in gaining a new perspective, learning skills, and acquiring tools to equip themselves better to handle life’s curveballs. Monica offers a safe space and is an empathetic, non judgemental listener to help clients process and digest their thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
Monica has worked in the manufacturing, entertainment, and education sectors. Her experience working in multicultural environments gives her insight into various challenges in such settings. Monica works with young people and adults on self-esteem, anxiety, depression, stress, and relationship problems to help them get “unstuck,” move forward and thrive.
Following a person-centered approach, Monica draws from evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). She tailors treatments and techniques to clients, helping them discover unrecognised strengths and untapped resources. Empowered and equipped, clients can confidently overcome challenges and make choices that align with their values.
Monica is available for Low-Cost Counselling (LCC) sessions in English and Tagalog.
