Vivian is a counsellor-in-training with over two decades of experience supporting children, teens, adults, and families through medical and psychosocial challenges. As a U.S.-trained doctor (MD) with a Master of Health Science in mental health, Vivian has long recognised that emotional wellbeing is inseparable from physical health—and that people heal best when they feel understood, supported, and empowered.
Across her career in Hong Kong and the United States, Vivian has worked with young people and families in clinical, community, and educational settings. As a pediatrician, she guided parents through developmental and behavioural concerns regarding their children, supported adolescents navigating identity and emotional stressors, and collaborated closely with multidisciplinary teams. Her work as an Autism Consultant deepened her experience in assessment, counselling, and family support, helping clients make sense of complex needs with clarity and compassion.
Vivian also contributes to youth mental health initiatives as an Advisory Board Member for Look Up Hong Kong, where she advises parents on digital wellbeing and childhood technology use. As an Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Hong Kong, she teaches medical students in the Medical Ethics and Humanities Unit, further reflecting her commitment to empathetic communication, reflective practice, and the human dimensions of care.
In counselling, Vivian brings a calm, grounded presence. Her non-judgmental collaborative approach integrates her background in healthcare, education, and psychosocial experience with evidence-based counselling from her Monash training. Having lived and worked across cultures, she understands the complexities of identity, family expectations, and cross-cultural communication. She creates a safe, respectful space where clients can feel heard, explore experiences and ways of coping, and move toward a life that is meaningful and aligned with their values.
